Jan Michalski (Zderzak Gallery) has been present at our Art Fair for many years. For years, among interesting galatian objects, he has been also presenting his books. This year, a meeting promoting his latest book will take place at the Fair.
„Krytyk jako dzieło sztuki” [“Critic as a work of art”] is a selection of 82 critic’s texts from 1985-2019, published in “Znak” and other magazines, in catalogues and specialized publications. These include extensive cross-sectional essays such as “We break out into the wild and transform” (about the young art of the 90s), “The Station ‘Solidarity’ “, “Gruppa Titleomania”, “Transition to History”, “Visions of salvation in Wróblewski’s art”, as well as reviews, stories, chronicles, fantastic biographies, polemics. The reader will find in the book the solution for several great puzzles of Polish art: who and when destroyed “Rozstrzelanie II”, to whom and why the painting of Jurry Zielinski “Wyzwolicielom Warszawy” was dedicated. In the foreword “Fate and misery of art criticism”, the author talks about his adventures on the aboveness of criticism, about the journalistic campaigns he conducted, and shows the aesthetic and philosophical assumptions that guided him.
We cordially invite you to meet Jan Michalski on Saturday 12.10.2019 at 17.00. Lecture hall of the 17th Warsaw Art Fair.
